Macquarie Ice Rink is located in inner north western Sydney and is located in the Macquarie Shopping Centre. The rink has serviced Sydney for over 30 years and has undergone major renovations to enable hockey games to return to the centre. Since 2017, Sydney Bears & Sydney Ice Dogs shared the arena as their home in the Australian Ice Hockey League. A completely new ice surface was installed in December 2017. It is also the home rink of the Sydney Bears IHNSW club.

There are numerous entertainment & food options nearby with good transport links attached.

Sydney Bears are the last remaining original member club of the Australian Ice Hockey League in its original form. In 2017, Sydney Bears returned to their spiritual home at the Macquarie Ice Rink.  In their long history, there have been several changes to name and home arena. Bears won the Goodall Cup in 2002 & 2007.

In 2017, Bears finished in 6th place. Finishing on 33 points but 7 points away from 4th place & Finals, they won 12 games (8 in regulation time, 3 in shootout) but lost 17 (14 in regulation time, 3 in shootout).

Bears are the current holders of the Wilson Cup which is usually a pre-season competition between Bears, Ice Dogs & Northstars. In 2017, the games were not played in pre-season. Bears & Ice Dogs competed in Wilson Cup as a part of the Battle Of Sydney games. Both teams won 2 games each however the Bears were awarded the trophy.

For the first time in 2017, Bears lost the Air Canada Cup (Canada Day Classic against Melbourne Ice in Melbourne).
